BIOGRAPHY
Darnell’s performance career has been recognized by audiences and critics worldwide for its depth and versatility. After successfully playing George Washington on the Hamilton Broadway North American and International Tours, Darnell stepped into the role of Mufasa in Disney’s The Lion King tour. Making him the first in Broadway’s history to play these two iconic lead roles.
Darnell’s career work has garnered him recognition by United States Congressional and Diplomatic Leaders for his successes and community engagement throughout the U.S. and abroad. Hailed by international journalists and reviewers as, 'outstanding' and 'powerhouse', Darnell has received numerous accolades and was inducted into the 2023 Bakersfield City School District Hall of Fame.
In addition to his acting credits, Darnell is a featured solo artist on Bandai Namco’s Tekken 7, which has sold nearly 12 million game copies worldwide as of February 2024. Moreover, he has collaborated with Grammy© and Emmy award-winning artists in the studio and on the concert stage. He holds a Master's degree from the prestigious Manhattan School of Music conservatory.
When Darnell is not on the Broadway stage, he is an International Cultural Exchange Artist for the U.S. State Department with a primary focus on arts diplomacy and education. Furthermore, he is an alumnus of the International Leaders Program at International House (I-House) in New York City; a diplomatic community and institution with a history predating the United Nations by two decades. Darnell’s leadership training at I-House helped him combine his artistic career with a passion for cross-cultural exchange and diplomacy.
